Capt. Charlie Ray Smith, M.D.

()Charlie Smith of Kodak, Tennessee lead a double life as both an Airline Pilot and as a Doctor, both at the same time! He even joined the Air Force at age 17 and later flew a B-29 mission into Korea the first day of the Korean War. After 57 missions over Korea at age 23, he was discharged a distinguished aviator. American Airlines hired him in 1953 and he retired the airline’s 10th most senior pilot in 1989. Dr. Charlie Ray Smith is one of Tennessee’s most beloved Senior Aviation Medical Examiners.
