Lt. Col. William H. “Bill” Pickron, Jr. USAF


()Following a distinguished and decorated military career retirement in 1967, Bill Pickron became the State of Tennessee’s first Chief Pilot. He flew Governors Ellington, Dunn and Blanton. Col. Pickron’s extraordinary military career included being a Fighter Pilot in WWII and a specialist in teaching precision instrument flying to USAF & NATO pilots. He collaborated in writing the first Air Force Manual on jet instrument flight and his flight tests included over 200 thunderstorm penetrations.
