LEONARD “LEO” LOUDENSLAGER   (1944-1997)


Leo Loudenslager won the United States Aerobatic Championship seven times between 1975 and 1982. He won the World Aerobatics Championship in 1980. He is one of only two aviators to have won seven national aerobatic titles and is one of only three Americans to win the World Aerobatics Championship title. Among his many other honors are membership in the International Aerobatics Hall of Fame, ICAS Air Show Hall of Fame, and the New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame. Loudenslager’s Laser 200 airplane is on permanent display at the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Leo Loudenslager died as a result of a motorcycle accident June 28, 1997 near his home in Tennessee.
